Why is he a better source of expertise than Tim Snyder, whose Yale course The Making of Modern Ukraine on youtube is the only Ukrainian history course in any American university?

Is d'Anieri fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, Polish and German and the archival sources in all those languages? From a single study abroad year in 1993-94, I don't think so.
