When I taught an entrepreneurship course at a university in Stuttgart they gave us a private tour of the Schwabische princes' Schloss (palace). When I asked the guide if the 2000 servants who worked there were paid, he said yes, about ten cents a month. We're headed back to the 1790s. No wonder those princes were terrified of the revolution just across the border.
