For the Donald, he was Swedish, then German, though really born in NY. But it was hard for an ethnic German to sell apartments to Jews in Queens in the early postwar years. So why not become Swedish?
Having a Jewish son in law does not cancel Trump’s anti-semitism, just as having a Polish son in law didn’t cancel Archie Bunker’s bigotry in All in the Family. Trump is a billionaire Archie Bunker from Queens and his anti-semitism was fully formed long before Ivanka and Jared met. I know the type; I was born in Flushing and my father had a gift shop there from 1951–1966. Bigots don’t cease their bigotry by acquiring in-laws who have been their bigotry’s targets.
