The words “preventable tragedy” prove that the American just in time, low resilience, abundant cheap goods through cheap labor model of capitalism is being killed by its own stored tail risk. It’s just a question of how many Katrinas, Idas, Sandys and Paradise fires will be needed to convince our low tax, low service neo-confederate COVIDiotic theocratic south that this form of capitalism is sawing off the tree branch upon which it sits. Don’t hold your breath waiting for them to rejoin the reality and science-based community.
