The Karelians, Komyans, Kalmykians, Tatars, Bashkortostanis, Yakuts and other peripheral nationalities that compose Russia’s land-based colonial empire and whose sons are disproportionately dying in this war, do not need Russia. They need Russia like the Uighurs, Taiwan and Hong Kong need China and the Iraqi Kurds need Iraq.
