Rafael Lemkin, the Shoah survivor lawyer who invented the term genocide, defined the Holodomor as genocide.
The NY Times reporter in Moscow, Walter Duranty, was blackmailed by the NKVD into lying about the Holodomor due to compromat: he had an affair with a Russian woman and wanted to keep his job.
Useful idiots like the celebrity British Socialists Sidney and Beatrice Webb and Lincoln Steffens were shown Potemkin village kolkhozes and sung collectivization's praises. Stalin was much more successful at hiding genocide in Ukraine than the Nazis were at hiding it from the Red Cross in Theresienstadt in 1944.
