In geopolitical terms we're already in a multipolar world.
The West fractures only in the absence of real threats (1919-33, 1991-2014/2022).
Why you indulge in this wishful thinking of western fracture is beyond my understanding when there is no viable alternative (China? BRICs? Iran? Hindutva fascist India and its caste system?) and geopolitical power vacuums are a recipe for chaos that kills prosperity for all.
In terms of developmental paths and viability of empire, we never will see a multipolar world. The Dutch invented the modern world, the English copied it and the Americans copied the copy. Everyone else adapts to and copies the Dutch/English/American model, or stays poor. Rule of law fiscal military states prosper. Rule by law kleptocracies stay poor. Read Why Nations Fail by James Robinson and Daron Acemoglu to see why. Or watch their lectures on youtube.
