I merely aimed to help the author with a basic math error without getting into or contesting his thesis. In Latvia we in a complex of 87 apts. Putting in a solar system for our 50m2 (including balcony) makes no sense. Knowing Latvia's distant relationship with sunlight, solar is improbable. Maybe wind.

If you live in a car-dependent detached house in which you individually can choose to install a solar system, you already have a carbon footprint many times ours. My only cars are a bicycle and taxis.

I have boatloads of call options and shorted puts on Canadian oil and gas stocks without owning them. We have a choice about who gets fossil fuel market share in the short term. I vote for better regulated carbon capturing Canada over Russia, China, Saudi and other kleptocracies. As always, for the moment you have a choice between bad and worse, not good and bad.
