All collectivist systems get shipwrecked on the shoals of outlier excellence and creativity. Sci fi novelist Ursula LeGuin figured this out in her novel The Dispossessed about a mythical anarchist planet.

Envy and status metering to prevent power accumulation by a few outliers is as natural to human societies as breathing. As shown in The Dawn of Everything, it was an integral part of innovative social engineering long before recorded history began. With bloody-minded primates yesterday's solutions are always tomorrow's problems. The geopolitical version is called blowback.
