After the Romans suppressed the Bar Kochba revolt they genocidally mis and renamed province of Palestine, for the Jews' ancient enemy, the Philistines and emptied a renamed Jerusalem of its Jews. Then the mis/renamed land had many colonizers: Byzantines, Arabs, Mamluks, Ottomans, Brits, until, finally, in 1948 it was no longer colonized. At no time during the 1813 years after the Roman mis/renaming was their ever a Palestinian state on this land.

The Arab settler colonists who had conquered it in 637 CE/AD, rejected coexistence and partition in lost a war and saw what was left of their land colonized by Egypt and Jordan. These Arabs then tactically renamed themselves as Palestinians, adopting the Romans' genocidal name for Israel and Judaea.
